I'm still here
Yes ... Today, only a short one ... we have some problems with our solar system. Therefore, my lacking power for my laptop to long entries write. Also is the very end of the month and I actually also do not have time, I write notes and official reports for the orphanage needs.
What is very important in any case: my partner is finally here and it's actually a bit rained more, so we first have to buy water:)
Recently, I miss the weather and the fall in Germany. Can you probably do not understand, right? Here it's just hot every day, often until 35 or 36 ° C and everything is dried up ... but already soon we will swim in water!
love all greetings to all who read my entries:)

Sunpak Tripod Change Heads
school and co
It's that time again Sunday and the children are in church. I have a bit of time so you once again from the Zebra Children's Village to report.
In the last week I had quite a few encounters with wild animals here. On the one had a hyena, which ran along our fence and, second, a small but highly dangerous scorpion that was among one of the drinking water tanks of the children. Also, I showed the guard one evening the remains of the skin of a snake that had been skinned, near the shower houses of the children.
In the last week I was right the first time in school. We had to pay some school fees and the opportunity I've talked with some teachers. The academic performance of children are grouped by the respective class teachers and then a ranking is created from the indicating precisely the position in which the children are in class. After this ranking, the children will also get their seating positions in the class, so you can see exactly the basis of the seating position, how good or bad the child in school. For the children, certainly not always easy, but I have to admit honestly that this ranking me at the moment is very helpful because I can see very quickly who needs tutoring and who not. Especially the older ones give me a headache since. They have performed very badly in the last exam and usually come without motivation for learning around 5:00 clock home. Then they have their school uniform Wash and assist in the preparation of dinner. When dinner is finished, it is dark. Then turns off even the light, not because enough solar energy is there, it looks bad with homework or tutoring for older children. Often, I am against 8:00 clock in the evening just not motivated enough to get me in a good mood down with them ... yes, finally my day started at 6:00 clock in the morning, and especially those that are always very hard to afternoons, because there hot little 12 children with homework and learn at the same time make. But I hope that the work week a bit easier ... my project partner will, tomorrow and then we can share the work :).
Then next week we only have rain and everything is SUPER! or we have to stop to buy water again. The children run it every day for washing and showering down to the water hole, but the tanks are still nearly empty. In addition, the grass is now so dry that give the kitchen just a little milk and we should actually buy food for them. But no money.
I milk the way, still twice a day, but I can now so good that I would casually informed by a security guard in Kiswahili:)

Community Service Proof Completion Letter
Charly again
my first blog entry from Kenya, I was provided with the heading "Some things about Charlie," and actually wanted to regular reports from him and the bat. However, I soon got used to my roommate and his little noises in the night that I completely forgot about him. Until Sunday evening a cheerful start fluttering in my room. Charly was probably going on as usual flown out to gather food, but it seems I did not act even a Charley, but a Charline, their offspring now fly practiced diligently. I was very happy that I have a stable mosquito net because otherwise the little bat would be the often landed on my blanket. So they crawled around but only on my mosquito net, and flew off to go to land at the window and then went back to my mosquito net. Real-time a bat so fascinating to look at from up close:). Meanwhile, the youngsters now seems to go in search of food, because it is very quiet at night again until the bats for 5:30 clock back.
In the last week I have also the first time seen monkeys in the wild. I have been traveling again with a matatu when I saw the monkeys on the roadside. There were so about 6-7 pieces that are probably interested for the things that make people so lying on the roadside. And while we're at Matatus: A few facts about the vans:
- The man who for boarding and alighting of passengers is responsible is often contacts ... to recognize the fact that he more or less attached to the outside of the door.
- Matatus There are belts.
- there in the first row in the matatu even seat belts ... at least I understand the reactions of the passengers just in case police is nearby.
- Each matatu has a small fire extinguisher and a spare tire.
- tire changes is by using stones and similar a pit stop in Formula 1: It usually takes less than 5 minutes and the passengers are of course sitting in the matatu.
- Matatus also drive by 120 kmh.
- particular, from the outside, not quite in new Matatus have an extremely loud sound system. Matatus of the newer varieties have some even small screens, to play the appropriate video clips to the songs.
- Fährgäste Matatus one may (with the exception of children) do not sit on each other, but must always sit next to each other ... no matter how closely it may be.
- And finally: the ticket prices could with the time of day and thus change the number of passengers.
I'd like you to show a photo of a matatu, but they are always so fast ...

Casino Themed Centerpieces
A day in ZCV
It's time again from Zebra Children's Village and report to me. The children today are on a school trip to Nairobi, and only now are back tonight. In the last week there is a lot of back and forth was because of the school trip because there was no money for funding. Ultimately, however, brought the two volunteers to the school of the children work on the money for all children. I'm curious about what the children tell of their trip when they are back.
In the meantime my life here in the Zebra Children's Village acquired a bit of structure. My day starts at 6:15 in the morning clock so that I water, toothbrushes and toothpaste in the main building collector and then move me toward the kitchen where the children after their breakfast, brush your teeth before they clock in between 6:30 and 6:40 clock direction start school. If all the children ready, have breakfast and I myself have time then the resulting Tasks to do. First there every morning, the Weekly would plan: I distribute stickers, when the children the day before their tasks like cleaning the toilets or garbage collect've done. Then I go to find the most clothes pins to distribute the children are still everywhere, and clean up in the office.
go on two days a week, I also after Kiserian to shop for the children. This is necessary because on Wednesday "Fruit Day" at the weekend and the children eat for breakfast, fresh bread. These two things can not do along with the monthly purchase and I have also the opportunity to shop for me:).
I would have an important task but almost forgotten: For a few days I have to milk every morning and every evening together with our security guard the cows. He is quite proud that I have learned so quickly from milking him and now wants to make me perfectly:). To this end he brings me every morning from me personally and has even built a small stool to sit on, so I do not have to kneel on the floor.
He also has the small enclosure where the cows are tethered for milking, a little altered since I've even hit his head. I like to work with him, even though I usually do not understand him because he only speaks Kiswahili and no English. One more reason for me diligently to learn Swahili ... now and I understand even the children!

'm With the guard in the last week the way, I also planted our garden again. We have tomatoes, onions, Zkumawiki (somewhat like spinach) and cabbage ausgesäat and now we are all Evening walk to the water hole and get water for watering the garden. But it will soon come rain and then it grows in the garden all by themselves.
before it goes to fetch water in the evening, I'm busy in the afternoon with the children. Most come from school around 13:30 clock and then it's first wash uniforms and do homework and then learn. Most will still have a bit of time to play when the children have completed your Weekly Schedule. Around 17:00 clock then there is chai (black tea with lots of milk) for all. Yes, I drink Chai now ... but I had to first get used to the whole milk in the tea.
If all supplied with Chai, it goes for most of the water hole. However, rice, especially the big girl and the housekeeper in the kitchen to start preparing the dinner. As they cook on a fire, it always takes a long time to finish the meal for the children. But it is a cozy get-together - for me as Easter celebration in the small and that every night. Sometimes I eat it with the children. There is every night ugali (maize dough from water and flour) and beans or cabbage. I often cook for lunch but also for me if the children are in school, and sit in the evening only with the children when they eat. After dinner you go to brush your teeth and the children wash in the shower house. If on the day enough sun was there, we still have the evening light to sit together. Otherwise, the children go to bed after washing and teeth brushing. Just like me!
