It's that time again Sunday and the children are in church. I have a bit of time so you once again from the Zebra Children's Village to report.
In the last week I had quite a few encounters with wild animals here. On the one had a hyena, which ran along our fence and, second, a small but highly dangerous scorpion that was among one of the drinking water tanks of the children. Also, I showed the guard one evening the remains of the skin of a snake that had been skinned, near the shower houses of the children.
In the last week I was right the first time in school. We had to pay some school fees and the opportunity I've talked with some teachers. The academic performance of children are grouped by the respective class teachers and then a ranking is created from the indicating precisely the position in which the children are in class. After this ranking, the children will also get their seating positions in the class, so you can see exactly the basis of the seating position, how good or bad the child in school. For the children, certainly not always easy, but I have to admit honestly that this ranking me at the moment is very helpful because I can see very quickly who needs tutoring and who not. Especially the older ones give me a headache since. They have performed very badly in the last exam and usually come without motivation for learning around 5:00 clock home. Then they have their school uniform Wash and assist in the preparation of dinner. When dinner is finished, it is dark. Then turns off even the light, not because enough solar energy is there, it looks bad with homework or tutoring for older children. Often, I am against 8:00 clock in the evening just not motivated enough to get me in a good mood down with them ... yes, finally my day started at 6:00 clock in the morning, and especially those that are always very hard to afternoons, because there hot little 12 children with homework and learn at the same time make. But I hope that the work week a bit easier ... my project partner will, tomorrow and then we can share the work :).
Then next week we only have rain and everything is SUPER! or we have to stop to buy water again. The children run it every day for washing and showering down to the water hole, but the tanks are still nearly empty. In addition, the grass is now so dry that give the kitchen just a little milk and we should actually buy food for them. But no money.
I milk the way, still twice a day, but I can now so good that I would casually informed by a security guard in Kiswahili:)
