Singing dunes and weeping camels
arrival in Ulaanbaatar at the Golden Gobi, a really cute family hostel where live from Mama grandchildren all under one roof and help. Mongolia here we are! Wow, and the same people laugh again, a treat for the soul.
The days in Ulaanbaatar, we spent a boozy Chingis session (thanks to Bob, the hostel son, who with his hospitality thought it a bit too well), a hang-over day and a lot of organization! GOBI DESERT 12 days was on the plan. We have organized everything on your own, and after 2 days we had an old Russian jeep, a driver, a great guide, Essensvorat and especially water the next day and a very nice group: Desi, our merry Swiss girl, Hannah, the chick from Freiburg, and Cecilia and Morten a Swedish student couples. Los way we can go, Adventure here we come!
So exactly no one knew what to expect and that was probably better that way! Our great plan was 12 days, even to cook with a small gas stove, and for an 8 piece band ... what was in the beginning as not manageable showed Finally, only routine light ... I'll tell you now I can not stress camping more, I'm ready! The decision to cook was the best we have taken since the Mongols eat ONLY meat ... whether Kamel, index, horse or sheep. I've never been so thankful for PASTA and twice a day! Vegetarian know that in Mongolia, because there are not even vegetables, nothing grows!
So now on to our trip: nature was just overwhelming, from great stone landscapes, singing dunes, plains, caves, camel and horse riding tour ... it was all there. What
me in Mongolia has a lot more enthusiastic, however, was not nature, no - It was the simplicity of how people live there. A typical Mongolian lives with his family in a round Geer (nomadic tent), which is about 10 m² and there is living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom integrated. He has either a herd of camels or goats. He eats meat, and either joguhrt Kamelmilch-/joguhrt or goat milk /. Getting used to! Yes and we Gobi Family midst. We have also created in the Gers with the families, of course, on the ground, surrounded in a small space of hanging meat, goats and mice, the smell of a walk at night around the head. A real frontier experience! But I can not describe the feeling as one such days Far from any capitalism and luxury, even more standard shape. You have thought would not end, you feel his body quite differently and the soul too. After 12 days without a proper shower, let alone a toilet or cold Coke was a nervous time limit is reached and you can not imagine how at one time was to stand in a supermarket to see fresh vegetables and fruit, cold drinks, especially water over your head to feel wowow .... great!
The border crossing from Mongolia to China was like a bad horror movie. I was thinking really short time, that was Veri, now you die here in the middle of nowhere. We have hired a jeep to take us across the border ... our Driver was a madman the so raged the Hannah one slit Po, I had a bump in front of us and a car almost went into the air ... oh no pictures in my head that I want does not play again ... Thank GOD we are still alive ... I know a really good guardian angels have!
Endresümee Mongolia: Anyone who loves nature and longs for more intensive time with humans, animals and nature, the perfect ... people are just great, a hospitality which can not be put into words ... an experience in my life will shape! Thanks GOBI!
